WHERE: Soldier’s Grove, Commonwealth Avenue, directly across from the Capitol fountain.
WHAT: Press conference announcing Senate Bill 1281, proposed by Senator Mastriano and Senator Ward, to protect first responders (e.g. tow truck drivers, emergency medical services, firefighters, law enforcement, etc.) when they respond to emergency scenes, traffic stops or disabled vehicles on the highway. This is referred to as the “Steer Clear Law”, which is being rebranded as the “Move Over Law”.
The press conference will be preceded by a First Responders Procession that will convene at the main entrance of the PA Farm Show Complex. There is an open invitation for all members of the media who would like to cover this story to ride on an emergency vehicle during the procession. Participating media in the procession should be at the PA Farm Show Complex by 11:15 a.m. The procession will conclude at the press conference site.
